Pillows

 We moved and I finally put my new pillow covers on the couch, and I love them!!! I'm glad I decided to make them before moving, I forgot how long it takes to unpack everything! Geeze! I don't know if we will ever get anything up on the walls, it's so hard to stick a nail in walls you just had painted. I bought some command strips, hopefully that will solve my fear of ruining the walls. 

I used the zipper tutorial in this post to make the dandelion pillow. I decided to do an envelope back with the other pillows. I would have done all zippers but I didn't want to buy anymore. I just made up my own pattern for envelope back pillow covers, but you can check out a tutorial for them at freshly-picked.com. I wanted to be able to remove the covers in case of accident from the kids. 

I bought my material at Fabric.com. It is all $15 a yard material I bought on sale. I bought five yards for a little over $30, I think that's pretty good! I finally finished my lamp (in the corner) I love it! I will be posting a tutorial for it soon.

Three Easy Baby Shower Gifts

 I want to share some baby shower gifts I made for my friend a few weeks ago. I finally had my embroidery machine repaired, and I put it to good use! My friend named her baby Anna Grace, cute name huh?! I made her a passy strap from my tutorial found here.

 I embroidered a pair of bloomers, and added ruffles to another pair. You can find the technique I used for making the ruffles in this post. I used the perfect diaper cover tutorial from Made. I love this tutorial! I have made a ton of these for my daughter and for friends. It's a really easy tutorial to follow. I also made my favorite burp cloths. I cut out a piece of cotton fabric and a piece of terry cloth sewed them right sides facing each other (leave a 4 inch opening), then I flipped it inside out and top stitched around the top. They are super easy and a great project for beginners. It's also a great way to use your fabric scraps!

Taking a break..

So we are moved in to our new house! 

I'm going to take a week blogging break to get things in order. I have 

tons of DIY projects floating around in my head. I just have to unpack first, bummer! 

It's much more fun just to work on the projects, but I can't even get into my sewing room 

right now because of all the stuff! I hope everyone has a productive week! 

Laundry Detergent Revisited

I shared my favorite laundry detergent recipe in this post. I found another 

recipe that I love even more!! It's even easier and cheaper to make, awesome!! 

Go here to find the full tutorial. I cleaned out a used milk jug to store my new 

liquid detergent. It is so easy to make! You don't even have to grate bar soap! Just mix three easy ingredients plus water. I've been using it for two weeks, and have had no problems at all.

Progress

 I started working on my lamp shade last week. Instead of a chandelier I'm repurposing an existing tall lamp I have. I'm going to spray paint it black and put in in our new living room. We are moving in a week and I think it will look great in the new living room. We are going to have light gray walls, with gray and yellow accent pillows on our gray couches. I'm excited! I am going to add another row of wire in the middle so there are three tiers. I used all of these circles in the pan above and finished the bottom and half of the top. I just got done ironing some more wax paper. Hopefully I can finish it before we move, fingers crossed!

Teacher Gifts

 I found this cute idea on Pinterest. I found these cups at the Christmas Tree store for $5 each. I bought the bags of mints from Wal-Mart for $1 each. I just made my own version of the card. Check out the original version where I got this idea here. All of my cute paper and stamps are already packed up. So this is as good as I could make it. I think it still turned out cute. 

 My girls had fun at their graduation program. So cute! 

What I'm working on...

Freshly Picked Chandelier

I have been working on getting together Mother's Day gifts today, and I finished up a car seat canopy for my sister. I might make a tutorial for that later on. 

I've also been busy working on this beautiful chandelier, can you believe it's made of wax paper! I'm probably halfway done, but I'm making mine a little different. I will post pictures and explain everything when I'm done. I absolutely love it!! Click on the link above to see Susan's tutorial. It's very time consuming, but I think it's worth it!
